My name is Ge Na. I have been a PhD candidate for the 4th year majoring in bioinformatics in school of life science and technology, Tongji University, Shanghai, P.R.China. In the autumn of 2015, sponsored by the China Scholar Councils (CSC), I started my one year's research in University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) in Worcester, MA, USA.
As I mention before, what I studied is bioinformatics, which is a word combined 'biology' and 'information'. According to the description from the Internet, 'is an interdisciplinary field that develops methods and software tools for understanding biological data. ---Wikipedia'. If let me make it easier to be understood, I want say that we are the programmer with biology background. In another words, we need the knowledge of biology/medicine background (separated from biology, medicine is different for it is about human in my opinion). And we applied mathematics (including statistics) in computer to realize some algorithm, which could deal with the multiple kinds of results of animal/human experiments. Not only deal with the results, bioinformaticians would speculate the other possible consequences from the simulative experiments with changing in some parameters, and validated them by extra experiments.
